One play didn’t make the Giants’ first shutout-sweep of the Dodgers in SF-era history, but the play at the plate in the 3rd inning didn’t hurt. Chris Haft of MLB.com describes the play perfectly in his game recap: A third-inning play demonstrated Lincecum’s resilience and symbolized his progress. He flung a wild pitch with opposing pitcher Chad Billingsley on third base and one out. Catcher Hector Sanchez quickly recovered the ball and relayed it to the 5-foot-11, 167-pound Lincecum, who made the tag and held onto the ball despite being knocked backward by the 6-1, 240-pound Billingsley.
